Important Vaccine information from Island Health
Cordova Bay Association for Community Affairs
Note from our Mayor
I am sharing this message with you to help spread the word to invite 18-39 year olds to register for their vaccinations this weekend. As of now, those 30+ are able to book. We are informed that there is a huge vaccine supply. Some registration details are noted below.
Thank you, Fred Haynes
BC’s COVID-19 immunization effort has picked up steam and Island Health has increased clinic capacity to complete the first doses by late June. As of May 12, they have immunized 370,000 people with their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine – 50% of our eligible adult population. That is an incredibly important milestone, but we are not at the first-dose finish line yet.
The faster we complete the first doses, the greater our ability to reduce the impact of COVID-19 on our communities and start to get back to something closer to a normal summer. That is why it is so important that everyone be registered in the provincial ‘Get Vaccinated’ online booking system.
Everyone aged 25+ can book their appointment now, and by this Sunday, May 16, everyone 18+ will be able to book. It’s been a long wait for many people, but now is finally the time for all of us to get registered, get booked and vaccinated.
Take three easy steps closer to the end of the pandemic:
· Register: Anyone born in 2003 or earlier (18+) can register now. Go to www.getvaccinated.gov.bc.ca
or call 1-833-838-2323. The process only takes about 2 minutes.
· Book: You will get an email, text or phone call inviting you to make an appointment. By May 16 everyone 18+ will be able to book an appointment. Registering now will ensure you get your spot in line.
· Get your vaccine: Clinics are set up in communities across Vancouver Island, including weekend and evening hours.
